Praise the Lord, my
friends in Christ!
In just 3 months God has worked through the
great generosity of our congregation and has raised ALL the
money for the Prince of Peace Chapel/Refectory at the Kinkiizi
CommunityCollege in Uganda.
It is amazing what can happen when we say "yes" to the
invitation to join the work that God is already doing in the
world. If we had come up with a plan, figured
out how to implement it and then invited
God into the process I doubt very seriously that there would be a
building underway in Africa. Instead, we heard
God's invitation and simply stepped out in
faith and began our Lego chapel. As we built it here in plastic, the
people of Kinkiizi began building with real bricks in faith that
we would be able to complete our commitment.
This is a powerful statement of what can
happen when we have outrageous expectations knowing that it is God who
will accomplish them through us.
Now that we have built the walls it is time to build the bridges.
We will be sending 6 missionaries to Uganda
this year and some every year. We have set up
a fund to sponsor those who feel called and are willing to commit to
the work but are unable to fund their own trips. It will cost
approximately $2500 for each person all
included. We will be doing a conference at the
community college called "Mission Transformation" as well as working
with SOMA, an internationally recognized
mission organization on a yet to be determined
assignment. We will also attend the dedication ceremony of the
Prince of Peace Chapel and Refectory. Our team is as follows: Fr.
Brian
Bailey, Marsha Hunt, Linda Armstrong, Brad Hemmings, Spencer Smilanick
and Julie Fanton. Some can fund their own
trips, some cannot. I have told them that if
God is calling them to this mission that the money will come.
Again, we are putting ourselves in the Lords hands and getting
started in faith that the means will be
provided. Please pray for us and for the
mission.
We will be accepting donations on the patio after church or you may put
your donation in the plate CLEARLY marked for
Uganda Mission Team or call Julie Fanton at
