Prince of Peace – Silent Retreat – St Mary’s Santa Barbara

We have a spot reserved for you (male or female) for the weekend of April 18-20th  to attend our      3-day 2 nights exclusive Prince of Peace Retreat/Conference at:

St. Mary’s Silent Retreat Center, 506 East Los Olivas, Santa Barbara  93105  Phone:  (805) 682-4117.

This is a Silent Retreat.  That means after Compline on Friday night until we Share on Sunday, you are encouraged not to talk at all – instead, you are encouraged to listen.  There will be opportunity with each session to sing along and perhaps share if asked, but generally this is the time set aside to hear God.  You are also encouraged to remain on the grounds during the entire weekend.  There will be amble time to visit the Santa Barbara Mission located next door or sightsee Santa Barbara special spots either prior to arriving here on Friday afternoon or after dismissal on Sunday.

Basically, all you need to bring with you are your clothing, personal toiletries, a jacket, comfortable shoes, and probably a journal, pen and kleenex.  If you wish to bring treats - bring enough to share with everyone there (about 30-35).  The cost of $150 includes your room and board, 6 meals, a full library to use at your leisure and excellent spots around the facility to explore in your “spare” listening time.  There is even a stations of the cross area on the grounds and a fairly new labyrinth.

Each of the teaching sessions on retreat will be short.  We will have the opportunity to participate in the Daily Offices generally led by the order.  Sign up sheets for volunteers will be available for the Scripture Readings, and other parts of the service.  Holy Communion is shared on Saturday at the noonday service and again on Sunday morning.

Just prior to the event, I will send out a list of each person that is attending so you can arrange for ridesharing or traveling together by train.  From Chatsworth station, the cost is approximately $36 round trip and then you can share a taxi to the retreat center or there may be someone available to pick you up.

Down payment non-refundable of $50 to reserve your spot is due by end of March – the balance can be paid at the retreat itself.  Some sponsorships might also be available.

Again – I encourage you to give this a try.  I know you will not be disappointed.  The grounds are lovely – well-prayed over, the people there are very special servants of the Lord and you will be richly blessed.

I hope that you will consider joining us on this silent weekend.  I just know God will bless you
