Financial Reports Roseann
Financials
Cash flow is low. We are projecting a shortfall for 2009.
Budget
We are looking at a $500,000 budget for 2010. There are no increases in salary. In order to balance the proposed budget, Youth Ministry, Music Ministry, and Children’s Ministries all had their requested budgets cut by $1000 for the year. A balanced budget presented.
Sabbatical Father Rand
There will be no extra expenses to cover Father Rand’s sabbatical in the Spring of 2010 other than his regular clergy support for three months. Kathie Clark will take on more responsibilities and will be compensated accordingly.
Stewardship Report Carol
So far, 166 pledges have come in, amounting to 78% of those who pledged last year. $440,485 is the present total of pledges. There are 20 new pledges, 55 increased pledges, and 22 decreased pledges. The average pledge for 2010 is $2652. The average pledge for 2009 was $2421. There are still many pledges outstanding.
Report of Diocesan Convention.
2 Suffragan Bishops were elected. Diane Bruce from San Clemente was elected on the 3rd ballot. Mary Glasspool from Maryland was elected on the 7th ballot.
Community Garden
The Vestry voted to accept a memorial gift of $5000 to develop a community vegetable garden in memory of local Episcopal priest, Reverend William Levy. A percentage of the produce grown would go to the West Valley Food Pantry.
Roundtable Committee Reports
West Valley Food Pantry
A committee has been formed of PoP parishioners and WVFP volunteers to create a grant proposal to build a separate building for the Food Pantry on our campus. Lynn Klein is writing the grant with help from Dauna Packer. Barbara Partridge is heading the committee and Bruce Schofield is doing research on the site.
Welcoming Committee
The Welcoming Committee is working on ways to make church more user-friendly to newcomers. Sue Ferron suggested brochures about the church should be included in the Christmas baskets delivered on December 20th. She will follow up with Jo Laslo and also include invitations to the Christmas Eve services.
Outreach
We had a successful work day with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in November as well as families working at church writing letters of welcome to refugee families. Monies for the end of the year will go to Uganda schools through the Uganda Christian Development Mission (international), St. Jude’s Research Hospital (national) and the local West Valley branch of the Salvation Army.
Adjournment – 1:30 p.m.
The next Vestry meeting will be Jan. 12, 2010.
