Facilities Dennis
Saturday, February 20st will be another work party at the
church. Painting various places, repair of chairs and kneelers, and weed
treatment will be done. The Welcoming Church Committee has made cleaning and
upgrade of bathrooms a priority. Big projects include remodeling the restrooms
near the Sanctuary and fixing the doors on the west side of the Sanctuary.
Facilities Committee will prioritize the big projects at their March meeting.
It was brought to Dennis'; attention that there is no hot water in the Family Center women's bathroom.
George Packer and John Arnold have been working on changing out the old
fluorescent lights and ballasts on the campus. CLEO rebate from the DWP will be
$1984. With that money, we may be able to replace all the fluorescent covers.
The bridge group has been growing they are good renters.
Time of meeting discussion Tuesdays or Sundays perhaps a compromise
would be to alternate days. This will be discussed again at the Vestry retreat.
Ideas for the year Julie Fanton and Elizabeth Hart will be going to
Uganda in June. Sue stated she will be working to make the Outreach Committee
a real committee.
Vestry members will send Rand and Carol weekend dates in March they are available
for the Vestry Retreat. The weekend will consist of a Friday evening meeting
and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Treasurer RoseAnn
Zarasua suggested the check signers should be a stable group consisting of Rand
Reasoner, Kathie Clark, Katherine Geeslin, and RoseAnn. That way we don't
have to change the signature cards every year. Approved by Vestry.
Audit Committee George Packer can continue on committee as well as
Chuck Wathen. Bill Prescott and Tanya Rynerson will be asked to join the
committee. The Audit Committee prepares reports for the Diocese. Reports are
due in September for the previous year.
The Vestry approves a Don Hedrick Memorial Tree to be planted near the church
playground.

Marketing ideas How do we publicize the church?
How do we raise money (fundraising)?
How do we meet the needs of the community (both parishioners and the neighborhood?
Plus how do we know what is the Lord calling us to do in this place?
A suggestion was made to have a divorce support group during homework club as an outreach.
A liasion person from the Vestry for Pantry building committee is needed. We could have a labyrinth teaching or meditation service
Mention was made to be sure to keep website updated.
Things in
the hopper
Welcoming church Dauna
Packer will put together a report to the Vestry. Suggestions from the Welcoming
Committee that involve facilities will be turned over to the Facilities
Committee. (This will include such things as signage on the campus.) Each
member of the Welcoming Committee is responsible to get six members informed
about the idea of a welcoming church. We discussed name tags: they are useful
to remove burdens and barriers, however, no name tags for newcomers make them
feel left out. Notes from the Welcoming Committee will be posted on the
leadership site.
The UTO grant has been
submitted to obtain seed money for building new facility for the Food Pantry.
The Food Pantry needs refrigerator, freezer, and storage space. An architect
has not been chosen. The building will be approximately 30 feet by 65 feet. We
need to assess what the community needs as well as what the Food Pantry needs.
Vegetable garden (Barbara
Partridge) Prince of Peace received a $5,000 donation last December to
help us develop a community garden, with the idea that part of the produce will
go to the Food Pantry. One idea would be to invite condominium dwellers to grow
food.
$6,000 has been donated for a
new stained glass wall behind the altar.
We must submit names to the Diocese for the delegates to convention. The
convention will be the first weekend in December, but the names of six
delegates and six alternates must be submitted by June.
New Vestry members were advised on keys, alarm codes, and mailboxes, as well as
given a tour of the Leadership site on the website.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
