Minutes Annelie Rugg
April Minutes were accepted as amended.
Reports were posted online. Carol mentioned members were keeping current with their pledges.
Stewardship Kendall Childs
Kendall has agreed to be Stewardship Chair this year. Church members will be reminded to keep their pledges current during the summer and consider giving another month’s worth of pledges to avoid a shortfall.
Facilities George / Dennis
Gary Moyer has not yet responded with a bid to upgrade the women’s restroom in the main building. David Moyal (recommended by Carol Barker) has given George a bid. George will get three bids, then go back to David with them to see if David will amend his bid (a “last look”). David’s bid for a total redo -- about $8,000. His bid for both men’s and women’s bathrooms is $14,700.
Front monument – At the next work party, the hedge will be removed and the sign will be redone. Dennis will set a date for the work party when he gets back from vacation.
Kitchen in the Upper Hall – Sink faucet has leak and the hose has leak. Motion passed to get it fixed for $300.
Canopy lights outside – one fell down. The wiring was corroded. Andy the electrician fixed it.
Family Center – George bought a new plastic plate to replace a broken electrical outlet cover. He will install it. The Tai chi class will be appreciative.
Dishwasher – want to replace with DWP incentive. Until we can replace it, we’ll leave it there because of Food Pantry inspectors say we need to have one.
Locking up the Church after Sunday services is going well.
Welcoming Church George
The committee would like to bring back name badges. The names will be in script and there will be blank ones that look similar, but can be written on for visitors.
Bulletin Board / Kiosk – There are plans to replace the bulletin board. The Vestry will be consulted with a layout of the campus to decide on placement and more signs.
Publicity/Press Officer – Bruce made an announcement that we need one – no response yet. George will make another announcement. Nancy suggested Eleanor deCarteret be approached as Eleanor has experience in this area.
Website Carol
Web page – Rand spoke with some people to help with the website. Kevin and Alma will form a committee. Annelie will be the Vestry liaison. Hank Suzukawa has also agreed to be on the committee.
Audit Committee George
John Arnold, Roman Melnick, and Dave Smith will be on the committee. They will start the second Tuesday in June. Answers for the Diocese will be documented.
Outreach Sue
Outreach asked for $500 to Our Little Roses School for Girls for the new dental clinic, $500 to Kinkiizi Primary Schools in Uganda, and $500 to Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles (130 Bruno St., Los Angeles, CA 90012-1815). For local outreach, Hillside Home in Pasadena has been asked if they need volunteers.
Nancy brought in a newsletter from the Assistance League of SFV and thanked the church for the free monthly use of church facilities.
PoP Library Sue
Following up on a request by Charlotte Doctor: Books in the Guild Room and in the Workroom (next to the bell room) could be checked to see what we have. Other possible follow-ups: make it a lending library, have book reviews for website and Peace Prints, buy current books suggested by Father Rand, have a book exchange (current fiction / nonfiction) on a mobile bookshelf.
Natural Church Development survey Greg
The survey will be in July – Greg will consult with Rand when he gets back.
Stained Glass Committee Kathie
Pastor Kathie would like to present a plan for replacing the frosted glass behind the altar with stained glass at the June Vestry meeting. The Stained Glass Committee has been working with Hakob Jambazian on a design. The committee consists of Mike Adams, Kathie Clark, Sue Ferron, and Boude Moore.
Small Groups George
George met with Charlotte Doctor about setting up more small groups. Alpha groups are long term, Beta groups have short term groups. Charlotte wants to have leadership training in August meeting in between services.
Publicity George
George met with the person in charge of Banners and Billboards for the city, Bill de la Cruz. Pricing of the banners depends on how many banners and in what zip codes they will appear. The city determines the price, we would need to produce them. The city approves them and they would install.
Simon will post the iChange survey on the website that will help us determine how we look at decisions as a group. Vestry members will bring individual results, then we will discuss them during an exercise.
