POST OFFICE FOOD DRIVE SATURDAY MAY 10 We need volunteers. Drivers with trucks, please call Al Trumpler (818) 887-9384. Sorters please be at the Pantry by 2:30 p.m., where sorting will continue until dark and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until done.

 

KOL TIKVAH GOLF TOURNAMENT MONDAY MAY 19 will benefit the Pantry. Those who would like to assist or play please contact Bob Hromadka at (818) 709-2878 or HROMADKA-ONE@webtv.net.

 

THANK YOU to everyone who gave fruit during Citrus Sunday, April 6th, and to participants in the recent Kol Tikvah Food Drive. Also, people have dropped off food in response to articles in the Daily News.

 

SUPERMARKET FOOD DRIVE Help is needed Saturday May 10th in front of Albertson’s Market at Victory and Fallbrook in two hour shifts, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Call Al Trumpler (818) 887-9384.

 

VOLUNTEER NEWS Happy Birthday to Lloyd Gysin who turned 90 on March 22nd and to Julian Brantley who is 89 as of April 10th. Welcome new volunteers George Catlin, Eleanore Maat, and Nancy Somers.

 

MULTI-LINGUAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to translate during Pantry shifts, either in the Pantry or on call over the phone; most needed are Spanish, Farsi and Russian.

 

HUNGER FACT: In the last five years, donations of USDA commodities to the LA Regional Food Bank have decreased from 24 million pounds to less than 9 million pounds.
