West Valley Food Pantry Paper – July 2009

THANKS to all our VOLUNTEERS, our Suppliers, Grantors, and Supporters for 24 years of serving our community.

We now have Shift Leaders, tons of food coming from Trader Joe’s and many food drives, significant financial contributions that assist in our success, and fantastic partners that get word of our work out to the community.

We now have more clients, more food, and more money to buy the nutritional foods for the needy of our community.

THANK YOU SHIFT VOLUNTEERS!

E-MAIL ADDRESSES: We would like to be able to reach each of you by e-mail to keep you up to date on upcoming events and send reminders of times when extra volunteer help is needed.  Therefore, we are going to be adding a line to our Volunteer Cards each month so you can fill in your

E-mail address or send to pantryscheduler@sbcglobal.net. Until those cards are prepared, we would appreciate it if you would write your e-mail address on the bottom of the card you send back.

TELEPHONE MESSAGES: Please use the book on the Pantry counter to write down telephone messages that you take. Please find out from the caller and note;

1) Who they are,                         2) Their Area Code and Phone number

3) What they want              4) When, is it urgent?

5) Where, and How does it get here for food drives or for food pickup

When you finish taking a message, please write the Date, Time and your Name.

SHIFT SIGN-UP: To work in the Pantry, please notify either Judy Gandy or Glenn Ellis by the 10th of the month preceding the one in which you wish to work using one of three methods: Return the card enclosed with your newsletter, or send an e-mail to PantryScheduler@sbcglobal.net. You can Telephone either Judy at *82 (818) 347-2890 or Glenn (818) 347-6021. Please do not ask Jeanne or Margaret if you can work, and do NOT write yourself into the schedule without first checking with either Judy or Glenn. TWO volunteers are the minimum required for us to open, and three volunteers are normally the maximum number working each shift.

WE STILL NEED SUPERMARKET COUPONS dropped at the Pantry from the newspaper, from your mail, in Entertainment books, and others.

SATURDAY SUPERMARKET FOOD DRIVES: Help is needed for July 11 in front of Albertson’s Market on Victory at Fallbrook, and July 18 at Ralph’s at Sherman Way and Shoup. Have a fun two hour shift, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please call Al Trumpler to sign up (818) 887-9384.

TRIBUTES: Thank you for all the Tributes to volunteers and family members this year, they brought in over $1000. You can honor or remember someone with a $5 donation. Cards and envelopes are available at the Pantry or send to Earl Lewis, 6036 Shirley Ave., Tarzana, CA 91356
