SAVE THE DATE Please drop off toys at the Pantry by Friday, December 11th for the holiday toy store December 19th.

SUPERMARKET FOOD DRIVES Help is needed Saturday, November 7th at Ralph’s on the north side of Victory west of Fallbrook, Saturday, November 14th at Albertson’s on the south side of Victory west of Fallbrook, and Saturday, November 21st at Ralph’s on the north side of Sherman Way east of Shoup. All consist of two hour shifts, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Call Jeff Albee to sign up for the October 3rd drive (818) 731-7385, Al Trumpler for the others (818) 887-9384.

WE NEED CASH-OFF SUPERMARKET COUPONS Some are in Entertainment books or the newspaper; others come in the mail. Please leave them with the shift leader at the Pantry. Also please bring in egg cartons and rubber bands to secure them. Thanks!

WE APPRECIATE SHIFT VOLUNTEERS who are on time for the afternoon shift, relieving the morning shift and who complete cleanup at the end of the Friday shift, helping the other volunteers.

VOLUNTEER NEWS Sue Keating is recovering from surgery and would appreciate cards sent to 6030 Nevada Ave., #10, Woodland Hills, CA 91367. Welcome new volunteers: Lloydena Aguilar, Tory Riihimaki, Shirley Roberts, Alice Wadiaeff and Linda Worland.

TRIBUTES For a minimum donation of $5, you can help the Pantry and honor or remember someone. Please send the name of the person you wish to remember/honor and the reason for it, along with your check, to Earl Lewis, 6036 Shirley Ave., Tarzana, CA 91356. Also, please let us thank you by including your name and address.

IF A GROUP DROPS OFF A DONATION, please ask them if they would like to receive a thank you note. If so, pull a donation card from the envelope on the bulletin board, fill it out and sign it. You’ll need to ask their name and address, and describe what they donated. Then return the card to the envelope, where it will be passed on to a note writer. When someone drops off a personal donation, give them the card to document a charitable deduction.

FOOD PANTRY T-SHIRTS ON SALE AT THE PANTRY Medium, Large and Extra Large available for $7 each to help the Pantry.

HUNGER RESOURCES:

When someone comes in early, they may be referred to SOVA Pantry, a program of Jewish Family Services, located at 16439 Vanowen St., Van Nuys. It also does food stamp sign-up every Wed. and Fri. For more info, see Pantry handouts.

Women’s Care Cottage provides homeless women and children with  emergency shelter, transitional housing, health care and job training. Their drop-in center is at 6040 Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood, CA 91606, (818) 753-4580.
