The Advent Story:
So often we skip Advent and go right to Christmas.  For example every organization in this parish has their Christmas party in Advent.  There are some things that are difficult to change because church follows the culture around us.  However, worship this Advent will focus on the events and people leading up to the Christmas event.

November 27 – Advent 1:  The Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38)

Nine months before the birth of Jesus and angel shares “good news?” with Mary.  We’ll look at what this story has to say about the character of God and those whom he calls to follow him.

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

December 4 – Advent 2:  Joseph (Matthew 1:18-24)
Matthew’s gospel focuses on Joseph in the Advent story.  What do we know about him?  What does his life tell us about what he shared with Jesus about “a father.”

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

December 11 – Advent 3:  Mary (Luke 1:39-56)

Mary visits her “kinswoman” Elizabeth before she gives birth to John the Baptist.  Two songs will share what it means for us to be “blessed.”

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

5pm – Evening Communion Service

December 18 – Advent 4

The journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem as we await the birth of our Savior on Christmas.
