Read the "Easter Hope in New Orleans", a PBS article that truly captures the work they are doing to rebuild lives.
I went to New Orleans as a personal outreach after reading what this
particular church was doing for the community and New Orleans. Foremost they were about God's work.
The structures that were destroyed came last. The lives and hurts of the people came first. The
maintaining of the spirit of God, rebuilding lives, homes, and community. This was and still is
today the message that is always present. I volunteered there for two weeks at the Church's triage
center. You could not find a more dedicated bunch of people, especially those who stayed on through
the blackest of days. These people who had to regroup their own lives were always giving to others.
Father Kramer was always at the forefront in all endeavors, providing uplifting messages daily and
especially at all worship services. He carries the message of renewal in God's great work here and
what each of his flock is doing itself in maintaining this belief daily. They are always about good
works. The volunteers from around America, and especially the church's and temples have been
astounding.. They come in groups, young and old, retired priest come in to give a day off or a few days.
We here at Prince of Peace have sent (2006) over $5000, over 15 cases of coats and sweaters, and 20 cases
of stuffed animals, with the help of our Brownie troop and Sunday school kids (who made special individual
boxes.) I hope that this year we can surpass our giving.
I am a tithing member of this church and maintain contact with Father Kramer, he sends messages and
devotionals daily.
Below you will find what the church is all about.

"Free Church of the Annunciation."
In 1857 we were the first church in New Orleans to abolish pew rent. It is a reminder of our predecessors'
bold stand for the Gospel, abolishing pew rent so that Black and poor folk could join our worship and
community life. May this be a constant reminder to us that we, too, are called to stand up for Jesus in
the midst of our own generation and circumstances. This is the cost of discipleship. We must be willing
to proclaim the Good News in all contexts and against all challenges at all expense. Certainly, there is
much here today that needs to be confronted in service to building the Father's Kingdom. And certainly
we must be willing to give of ourselves like never before. Let us never count the cost. Let us empty
ourselves completely as Jesus did for us. Visit the Church of the Annunciation website.
