CRAFT AND QUILT GROUP
Crafty Ladies
The crafter are a group of ladies who have been together for about 25 years. Every other year they hold a boutique for which they create unique gifts & crafts. It takes two years to prepare for this sale and this is the year of the 2004 Holiday Boutique. The dates of this prestigious event are Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14 in the upper hall.

The money from these sales has been used for donations to charitable groups as well as maintaining and purchasing large improvements for Prince of Peace - such as chairs and tables for the upper hall, carpeting, kitchen necessities, donations for the Family Center, etc., etc.

All new artisans or beginners are welcome to come and craft. Bring a sack lunch and come to the Upper Hall on Thursdays from 9:30 to 3 p.m. and see what hidden talents you may have while enjoying friendship and creating in His Name.

Veteran's Quilt Project

Our Veteran's Quilt Project is providing quilts for the wounded veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan to the Greater Los Angeles Area. These heroes are receiving medical care at either the out patient VA Care Center in Sepulveda or the in patient facility in West Los Angeles. We are told that the quilts are helping greatly with the healing process by giving the veterans a tangible reminder of how grateful
the American People are for their bravery and service to our country.

Prince of Peace Episcopal Church has graciously provided a monthly workplace for people to gather to make the quilts. We hold a workshop on the third Tuesday of every month from 10 AM until 3 PM. All who would like to participate are welcome. No experience necessary. In May we will be meeting on the fourth Tuesday (May 22) as the room will be in use on our regular date.

The San Fernando Valley Quilt Association was recently awarded the VA Compassion Award for our project. We are trying to branch out and involve other guilds in order to meet the need. The number of patients (all from the current war) that the VA has been treating, has jumped from 1500 to 5000 in the past month. All are deserving of a quilt. The VA has set up a data base to recognize those who have earned Purple Hearts to be sure they receive quilts and others as quilts become available.

In the past year, we have donated over 200 quilts and there are currently 60 more ready to deliver. We have a long way to reach our goal, but I believe with God's blessing and perseverance, we will meet it.

Our deepest and most sincere thanks to Prince of Peace for the wonderful support this project has received.
