Upper Room
Purpose
- Provides a place to intercede on behalf of friends, family, the church, community and world.

- Provides provides a place for corporate prayer.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind,
be alert and always keep praying for all the saints." (Eph. 6:18)

What is a "Prayer Room?"
The Prayer Room is a place one can take leisure in God away from our busy world.

Jesus said, "Seek first the Kingdom of God," This needs to be the primary activity for spiritual health and growth for a Christian. If we are to follow and fulfill the commands of Jesus, we need to make prayer a priority in our lives. God does not want to crowd our lives with prayer. He actually wants us to rearrange our lives around prayer.

The Prayer Room:
Is where one has the opportunity to spend quality time alone in solitude with God.

The Prayer Room:
Is a place where one can experience a time of silence to hear the voice of God.

"…If My people pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear
from heaven, and forgive their sin" (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The Prayer Room:
Provides a safe place for one to practice praying.

"Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son…"
   (John 14:13)

The Prayer Room:
Makes it possible to schedule ones prayer in a systematic manner.

Dick Eastman's Prayer Model "Prayer Wheel" is available to help develop prayer stamina. Eastman's model simply divides an hour into twelve five-minute segments.

(Only an aide or guide in prayer) it has encouraged people to form better prayer discipline. Prayer is a discipline that can be learned. Using this model is a way to help us to get into "prayer shape."

What is Corporate Prayer?
(Praying together as a team) When we come together to pray for the needs of Prince of Peace and our brothers and sisters in Christ (using yellow prayer slips), we tend to have a single focus and be in agreement on the needs and thanksgivings that is not present with individual prayer.

In (Matt. 18:19) Jesus says, "I tell you if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in My name, there I am with them."

When we move from our individual prayers to a corporate prayer focus, agreement with others, we move into a realm where prayer power becomes greater. It is our belief that for every person who joins in praying for the prayer needs of Prince of Peace and our brothers and sisters in Christ prayer power is multiplied. Jesus tells us that prayers are answered when people in the church agree in prayer (Matt. 18:19).

One of the lost concepts of prayer is the idea of waiting together for God to answer our prayers. As Jesus ascended into heaven His command for his disciples was "to wait for the promise of the Father" (Acts 1:14).

For the early church waiting meant praying together and 120 of them did so until the Holy Spirit was poured out on them. The first work of God's Kingdom is prayer.

The early church made prayer a priority. Much was accomplished through praying together.

"The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth."  (Psalm 145:18)

The Prayer Room:
Communicates the importance of prayer in the life of a disciple and as Jesus' disciples we believe in the power of prayer.

The Prayer Room:
Is inclusive (it can be used by all people).

How to Utilize the Prayer Room:
Be discrete!

Indiscretion will be a death nail in The Prayer Room Ministry. Any name or request you find in the Prayer Room is between Intercessors and God. Do not discuss private matters. Share good news reports only after you obtain permission.
