Praise the Lord, my friends in Christ!
In November of 2005, We announced our intention to raise $60,000 to upgrade the physical plant of Great
Lakes Regional College by building a Library, a Dining Hall and a Girls' Dorm. This improvement would
give them the facility to be accredited as a
|
|
University.
The people of Prince of Peace responded with their usual generosity and by the Spring of 2006 we had met
our entire commitment. As we sent the money, buildings were going up. As of the fall of 2006 most of the
work was completed. Unfortunately they experienced a shortage due to a steep rise in fuel and material
costs so one building remains unfinished
Our child scholarship program has been very successful again this year. In addition to the 40 children
that we have been supporting in Nyamirama, we took on 30 orphans at the orphans school in Nyakabunko. Marsha
Hunt visited this school when she went to Uganda this year. I thank God that all the children are now
sponsored. $200 gives each child school fees for a year, a uniform, and a hot protein meal every day. Next
year it will cost $250 to sponsor a child due to rising costs in Uganda.
Thanks to Sidney Wrigley who jumped in and is doing the administrative work for all of the programs.
Marsha Hunt and Julie continue to serve as trustees on the board of
Uganda Christian Development Mission
(UCDM). This is a non profit 501 C-3 corporation formed to coordinate the work of churches all over California
for the work in Uganda. It provides oversight of the projects which must be approved for grant. We now send
all of our money through U.C.D.M. which deducts 5% for administrative costs. It also allows us to approach
corporations with large grant resources who would not be comfortable giving funds to a church.
Bud, Nicholas and Julie Fanton are planning a mission trip to Uganda on June 19th 2007. They will spend time
at all of the projects that POP is involved in and report back to you on their status. Julie will also be
addressing the very first graduation ceremony at Great Lakes College! They will be bringing gifts of school
bags with the POP logo filled with supplies to all the children at both schools. We are also donating through
UCDM a television and vcr for the Nyamirama school and the College. The orphans school cannot support
electronics yet, They will also be assessing the condition of the orphans school. We are being asked to
assist in another building project as that school, made out of mud and sticks is starting to fall down. They
will report on all of this when they return. If you would like to assist the mission either financially or
in prayer please contact Julie

Julie, Nick, and Bud Fanton
In July Sue Ferron and Marsha Hunt will be giving a conference at the College (content TBA) Marsha is also
still working on an airstrip and in partnership with Hamlet is trying to open a guest house at the gates of
Queen Elizabeth Park taking advantage of tourism as a self-sustaining project to benefit our schools.
If you have any questions about any of the Uganda Mission Ministries or would like to serve in some way
contact Julie or email the church office@popwh.org.
