Lent 2011


 

Morning Prayer:

Every morning in the Chapel at 7:30am from Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, April 23.  (except Wednesdays at 6:30am and Sundays.)  Start every morning in Lent by focusing on God and offering Him prayers and praise.  If you cannot attend the services in the Chapel, you can still do Morning Prayer by visiting www.dailyoffice.wordpress.com.

 

Wednesdays: 

6:30am – Holy Communion in the Chapel

This service is ½ hour long followed by a continental breakfast.  A great service for commuters who want spiritual refreshment for the middle of the week.

 

Wednesday, March 9 – Ash Wednesday

Holy Communion with the imposition of ashes:

6:30am – Chapel

Noon – Chapel

7pm – Sanctuary

 

Sundays:

March 6 – Last Epiphany

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

 

March 13 – Lent 1:  Lenten Series on Forgiveness Begins: Keeping a Good Lent
8 and 10am – Holy Communion

10am – Pretzel Sunday

5pm – Evening Communion Service.  Water to Wine leads worship.

 

March 20 – Lent 2: The Penitential Psalms, Receiving Personal Forgiveness

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

 

March 27 – Lent 3: Colossians 3:12-15, Forgiveness in Marriage/Significant Relationships
8 and 10am – Holy Communion

5pm – Evening Communion Service.  Water to Wine leads worship.

 

April 3 – Lent 4: Genesis 50:15-21, Forgiving Family Members

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

 

April 10 – Lent 5: Matthew 18:15-17, Forgiving Other People

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

 

April 17 – Palm/Passion Sunday

8 and 10am – Holy Communion and Reading of the Passion Gospel

10am – Service begins at the Family Center with the Palm Sunday Procession

5pm –Contemporary Palm Sunday Worship

Holy Week:

Thursday, April 21 – Maundy (Command) Thursday

Noon – Holy Communion in the Chapel

6:30pm – Family Center  Agape meal, Communion, Foot Washing, Sanctuary  Stripping of the Altar
Watch with me one hour vigil (9pm until noon Good Friday)

 

Friday, April 22 – Good Friday

Noon – Prayer Book Good Friday Liturgy in the Chapel

7:30pm – Good Friday Liturgy in the Sanctuary:

The Prince’s Players will present an original work, THE FIRST WORD.  Continuing our Lenten theme, the story finds us at the foot of the cross, listening to the witnesses – some seeking, some rejecting His forgiveness.

 

Saturday, April 23 – Holy Saturday

8pm – Easter Vigil: Service of Light, Lessons, Christian Initiation/Renewal of Baptismal Vows and Holy Communion

 

Sunday, April 24 – Feast of the Resurrection/Easter Sunday

8 and 10am – Festal Communion/Flowering of the Cross

Reminder:  The two services are identical.  Seating is easier to find at 8am

 

Sunday, May 1 – Second Sunday of Easter

8 and 10am – Holy Communion

10am – Blessing of the Animals
