Happenings at Prince of Peace in Advent
Advent Evening Prayer and Group Spiritual Direction- will be held each Tuesday evening from 7-8pm in the Chapel through December 18. This is a great way to move away from the clutter surrounding the season and focus on the coming of God's great gift.
Christmas Flower Dedications- Gracing God's altar in beauty is a wonderful way to remember loved ones and blessings. Blue donation envelopes are in the pew racks. Dedications turned in by Sunday, December 16 will be listed in the Christmas Eve bulletin.
Your Whole Family is Invited!  We are having a 'Family' Christmas Pageant. If you have a child in Sunday school or the nursery, your whole family is invited to take part in our pageant on Sunday, December 16th. Just come to our Pageant Rehearsal this Sunday, December 9th, after the 10am service. Your children will be brought down to the church after their Sunday school class, we will meet you in the church.
2019 Giving Cards-    Thank you to everyone who  has turned in their Giving Cards. If you still need to fill out your pledge card, please pick one up in the Narthex or Click here to submit your pledge electronically.  Thank you for your support!

Planned Giving- there are many creative ways to plan a gift to Prince of Peace. We have established a dedicated, confidential email address to share information, field questions, or start the conversation about planned giving: pop.plannedgiving @outlook.com. Secret Prayer Partners Reveal- The Reveal and Lunch will be held Saturday, December 8 at 12 noon in the Family Center. If you are unable to attend, please leave your gift in the office for Sandi to pick up. That way everyone will have a gift. Please call Sandi Totter
with any questions. Hope to see you there!
The Dinner Club Christmas Party- will be on Saturday, December 15 at 5:30pm at the home of Tina Larson (18725 Wells Dr. in Tarzana). No charge, but please bring a ready to serve appetizer or dessert. Sign-ups on the patio after both services. For more info contact Ginny Burke.
Counters Needed- Who counts the blessings at Prince of Peace? Teams of faithful counters on Monday mornings! We are in need of more volunteers. If you are interested in being part of the Counting Ministry, please contact Lynn Klein. It is a small commitment - of great importance.

For the season of Advent- Journeying the Way of Love offers four sessions to be explored as we await the coming of Christ by moving through the first two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. Luke's gospel provides a pattern for understanding how we can live the Way of Love as individuals, as families and friends, as a community, and out in the world. Click here  for this week's lesson.

Prayer Shawl Ministry- The next Prayer Shawl Workshop is Saturday, December 29 at 10am in the Chapel, and is open to all knitters as well as those who would like to learn!    Please contact Kathryn Reasoner for more information.

Advent / Christmas Outreach- The large glass jar will be in the church's main aisle through Advent. All monies including Christmas envelope donations and the loose plate offering at Christmas services will be
used to support the Community Dinner Ministry at Prince of Peace. The mission of the Community Dinner is to reach out in love to our neediest friends and neighbors in the West Valley. On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, volunteers and guests come together over delicious meals & heartfelt hospitality.  
Alternative Christmas Faire- We will have two tables on the patio after each service on Sunday, December 9. There will be gift cards available for purchase and a Christmas card to write a note on at each table for Haven Hills and Angels Way. There will also be the opportunity to make a donation for "Our Little Roses", a home for at risk young girls in Honduras.   Checks for the above can be written to Prince of Peace with a memo directing them to one of the organizations above.  For more information, please contact Ginny Kreuzberger.
Health Ministry Newsletter-   Our exploration of the Model for Healthy Living continues with a focus on friends and family. Sharing God's love though community has always been central to our faith.Pick up a copy of the newsletter from the narthex on Sunday or click here for more information on the medical benefit of having strong relationships.  
The Community Dinner-  which typically takes place on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 5pm, will take place on the 2nd and 5th Saturday in December. Mark your calendars for Saturdays, December 8th and December 29th at 5pm.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Elizabeth Bates at Elizabethbatescd@gmail.com.

*Make a donation of new, unwrapped toys for a child or a teen gift card to Walmart, Target or iTunes
to the Food Pantry by Thursday, December 13. Drop your gift off at the Pantry before noon, Monday-Friday.

Children & Families Ministry

Advent Wreath This Advent Season our children will be learning the meaning of Advent and lighting our Advent wreath during class each week.

Christmas Pageant-
The POP children and their families will be presenting a Christmas Pageant on Sunday, December 16 at 10am. All children are welcomed to participate. A Children's Christmas Party will follow the performance. We will be rehearsing on December 2 & 9, at 10am in Taylor Hall.  
SPECIAL Pageant REHEARSAL - on Sunday, December 9 after the 10am service. Please plan to attend! This helps your child understand how to move during the play and gets them more comfortable being at the altar. 
cookies Children's Christmas Pageant & Party on December 16. All children must arrive by 9:15 am & proceed to Taylor Hall to get dressed in their costumes.After the pageant our children will have a Christmas party in Taylor Hall. Parents, to make this Christmas Party special, please bring one plate of the following for each of your children:  
*Last names A-S: 1 doz. cookies  
*Last names R-Z: 1 doz. finger sandwiches 
No peanut butter or nuts please, several children have allergies. Thank you!
Beginning January 13, 2019
Our Prince of Peace Children will begin a five week series called 'Wake Up!'that centers around five impactful stories that required someone to wake up. This is themed in a Wake Board extreme water sport atmosphere with medal champion's sharing their faith in Christ. Our children will be introduced to life changing principles that will make their faith Wake Up and come alive.
