Evangelism
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:19,20
In Christian tradition, the Great Commission is the instruction of the resurrected Jesus Christ to his disciples, that they spread the faith to all the nations of the world. It has become a tenet in Christian theology emphasizing mission work and evangelism. It has been a primary basis for Christian missionary activity. Christians often characterize evangelism as "...one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread."
During the summer months (when temperatures are lower than 100 degrees), Deacon George Packer leads informal worship services on Sunday afternoon in local parks. These Worship Without Walls services are a low-key and friendly invitation to join in our worship and to learn more about Jesus.
Sometimes the church should go out to where the people are. On Ash Wednesday, parishoners can be found on one of Woodland Hills busiest intersections offering a blessing and ashes to all who desire. What better way to show our faith than to take our liturgy to the street for God's people who have work, children, and chores filling their day.
Alpha
Alpha is a back to basics mini-course in Christianity that also has a lot to offer the seasoned
parishioner. Alpha has something to offer anyone who seeks to know more about the person of Jesus Christ
and His role in our lives."
"One of the wonderful things about Alpha is that it's not about religion, it's not about church,
it's about a personal relationship with GOD - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
The Alpha Study Course is regularly offered at Prince of Peace Church in Spring and Fall. This nine week
course usually meets Wednesday evenings and includes a weekend (Friday and Saturday) around the sixth week.
The Wednesday evenings begin with a dinner followed by worship, a talk or video, and discussion with fellow
attendies.
